This is my daily tweet/toot/blog post, giving a short summary of a new paper about quantum error correction on the arXiv.

Today in QEC on the arXiv

Qudit toric codes that have all the properties of topologically ordered systems, except ground state degeneracy. From a QEC perspective, this means that they are unexpectedly useless! But maybe their weirdness can be put to use (or maybe not, this is just speculation of my own).
